A

The Crusades were caused because when the Seljuk Turks took control of Jerusalem, they refused Christian pilgrims. This caused an uproar and so the Byzantine Emperor Alexius I , along with the Pope, gathered an army to fight.

The rats lived in close contact with humans, and the rats had the bacteria. The fleas would bite the rats, get infected with the disease, and then bite into the humans. So, the humans would get the plague.
