What is a foundational religious belief?
Fundamental to the tradition, relating to a higher order. Doesn’t change (only expression may change). Basis for other beliefs.
What is a religious belief?
The expression of fundamental foundations of meaning about the purpose of human life. A frame of reference to understand the world, and a guiding framework for daily action towards the highest goals. These goals are interpreted and communicated by organised groups social systems and communities.
What is a system of belief? Eight aspects.
The eight aspects are beliefs, myths and other stories, sacred texts and other religious writings, rituals, social structures, ethical principles and oral or written codes of behaviour, and religious experience and spirituality.
Why do people have religious beliefs, what purpose do they have?
Answering the existential questions. Such as, meaning of life, relationship between ultimate reality and humans, relationship between humans and the natural world, meaning of life and death, purpose of human life, how to live life and moral framework and ultimate reality
What is the RCT’s belief in ultimate reality?
The belief that ultimate reality is God, he is trinitarian, God is love, God the creator, God the giver of life, Omniscient God, Omnibenevolent God, Omnipotent God, Omnipresent God and God is an interventionist.
What is meant by God as being a trinitarian being?
God is three parts, the father (God), the son (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit (an omnipresent presence). Symbols: trinity, sign of the cross.
What is the RCT’s belief that God is creator of heaven and earth?
God created the earth and the heavens above and we have to nurture this gift. GOFISH
