Unit 3: Moisture in the atmosphere Flashcards
1
Q
What is an isohyet?
A
It is a line on a map that connects points having the same amount of rainfall in a given period.
2
Q
What is relative humidity?
A
The amount of water vapour in the air at a particular time, expressed as a percentage of the total amount of moisture that the air is capable of holding at that particular temperature
3
Q
How is humidity measured?
A
With a wet-and-dry bulb thermometer / hydrometer
4
Q
Explain how the wet-and-dry bulb thermometer works.
A
The dry bulb show the air temperature
The wet bulb shows the dew point temperature
Dew point temperature is the temperature at which condensation occurs
Condensation level is the altitude at which condensation occurs
