Unit 3 Lesson .02-Pressure, temperature, and volume. Flashcards
What are the physical properties of gas?
Pressure, volume, and temperature.
What is pressure?
Pressure is the force applied to a unit area of a surface.
How do we calculate pressure?
Pressure=Force/Area
What is pressure a result of?
Pressure is a result of gas molecules colliding with surfaces.
How do we find the volume of a gas?
The volume of a gas is the same as its container so you can just get the volume of the container.
What does volume measure?
Volume measures the amount of space an object takes up.
What is temperature?
Temperature is an indirect measure of the average kinetic energy.
What do we use to measure temperature?
Thermometers.
What do we need to do to make use of gas?
Compress it into a container.
What has to change for a container to expand?
The pressure or the volume.
What happens when the temperature increases?
Volume increases.
What happens when volume is decreased?
The temperature decreases.
