Unit 3: Expeditionary Concepts for Posturing and Deploying AF Capabilities Flashcards
a. Explain the AEF Concept b. Explain AEF Resources c. Explain Adaptive Planning d. Explain AEF Next
Tempo Banding
Align capes accomplishing mission with actual deploy-to-dwell ratios
No deployment for longer periods than capes are required
Provide predictable schedules for realistic planning
(37)
Air Space Expeditionary Force (AEF) Concept
Born of necessity after years of rotations
Operates on a 24-month schedule
Remains flexible, fulfilling CCDRs needs & provides predictability for Airmen
(37)
AEF Key Principles
- Predictability
- Equitability
- Transparency
(38)
AEF Key Elements
Readily available force - primary pool for fulfilling AF requirements
Enabler force (X-Band) - postured as enablers & rotate as ops reqs dictate (on-call)
In-place support - 2 types - 1) direct support of a CCDR msn 2) representing minimum reqs to support critical home station ops
Adaptive planning
Two concepts:
1) Teaming - filling out a deployed unit with the largest portion possible from a single contributing unit
2) Crisis deployment/rotation of airmen - pull as much as possible from one wing in the pool for max effect/normal rotational ops have lead time to cast a wide net across AF
(41,42)
AEF Online
AFPC/DPWs website which provides relevant info about all things AEF/deployments in one location
(43)
Commander’s Toolkit (CCTK)
Tool on AEF Online to enable CCs to check medical, dental, and personnel readiness info on entire unit
Combines data from the Preventive Health Assessment/Individual Readiness (PIMR) system and Military Personnel Data System (MilPDS)
CCs and UDMs have near real-time direct access to unit IMR status and due/overdue reports
(43)
Personal Deployment Preparedness Tool (PDPT)
CCTK’s sister tool
Every Airman can access PDPT for Tier 2A pre-deployment training reqs, etc
(43)
AEF Next
Presents AF combat power using Air Power Teams (APTs) and generates these teams from unit based deployments
Features:
- UTC construct
- AEF rotations
- Wg, Grp, Sqd size orgs
- Scalability
- Six month tour length
- Predictability/fairness
- Enabler pool
(44)
Six types of Air Power Teams (APTs)
- Strike
- Space & Cyberspace
- Mobility
- Special Operations
- C2ISR
- Agile Combat Support
