What is population distribution?
A pattern showing where people live in an area. Example a scattered distribution pattern along a coastline or road
What is an intercity bus?
A bus that travels between cities
What is an intra city bus?
A bus that travels within a specific city
What is residential density?
The measure of the number of housing units per hectare
What is the winter city concept?
The idea to build cities with indoor and outdoor environments that are live able during harsh winters
What is the smart growth policy?
It is a policy that promotes and manages the growth of communities, sustain a strong economy in the region and promote a healthy natural environment. (Sustainable development)
Town
Increased services result in more jobs and more people move to that area as a result
Bulk cargo
Cargo that is large thick and heavy and often inexpensive and take up a large amount of space
Quaternary industry
Highly specialized and usually expensive knowledge based technological and support services
Institutional land.
Land that is used for or set aside for institutional use by schools hospitals etc.
Low order product
Product or service that is purchased frequently
Threshold population
The minimum number of customer needed to keep a business profitable or to allow a service like a library to be offered
Resource based community
A town that exists primarily to exploit the presence of a mineral forest or other resource
Diversified urban center
Town or city that has a variety of basic urban functions
Central business district CBD
The downtown area of a city or town where most of the important commercial and gov’t activities take place
