A

Many early christians would go on pilgrimages(religious journeys) to Jerusalem and they would retrace the final journey of Jesus
It was very difficult to make this journey and many were unable to. Thus, Christians developed the practice of praying and reflecting as they went through 14 representations of the event immediately surrounding Christ’s death
This is called “the stations of the cross” and pictures, statues or plaques representing them can be found in almost every catholic church
It is especially common to practice the stations of the cross during the season of lent, as we prepare for Good Friday and Easter

A

When we sin we offend God. This damages our connection to him as well as our connection to his Church
Thus, we require a way to seek reconnection with God and with his Church when we have committed sin
This is where the Sacrament of Reconciliation comes in
