What is a sharp?
Symbol= #, raises a pitch/note by one key to RIGHT
What are the primary chords and notes of G major?
Primary chords of G major: G, D7, C & chord symbols
G- GBD, (G symbol)
D7- F#CD, (D7 symbol)

What are block chords?
Chords where each note is played simultaneously (at the same time)
What are broken chords?
Chords where each note is played individually (one at a time)
What is a damper pedal?
Pedal on the right, allows notes to echo when keys are hit
What is a diminuendo?
Dim. Gradually die away
What is a crescendo?
Gradually get louder
What is a decrescendo?
Gradually get softer
What is a fermata?
Hold the note for longer than its written value
What are eighth notes?
Rhythm worth ½ of a beat
What is D.C. al Fine?
“Da capo al fine,” “From the head, to the end”; Go back to the beginning and play until the “fine” symbol.

What are dotted quarter notes?
Quarter followed by a dot-rhythm worth 1 ½ beats (usually followed by a single eighth note)
