Unit 3 Flashcards
Direct practice
Direct practice is when a social worker works with an individual or a small group of people in order to determine which programs or services would best meet their needs.
Macro Practice
Macro practice is an indirect level of social work in which social workers work with programs, government policy, or institutions instead of working with clients directly
Clinical Practice
Clinical practice is similar to direct practice; however, clinical social workers mostly work with clients who have emotional disturbances or psychiatric conditions that require psychotherapy.
Administration of practical services
Administration of practical services is a method of treatment in which a social worker provides assistance to a client by helping the client choose and use social resources that are paid for by the community, such as legal aid, medical care, and foster homes.
Summative evaluation
seeks to gather up the insights of a total service delivery, record lessons learned, and apply them to future cases
Formative evaluations
Formative evaluations deal with improving services as they are ongoing.
Cognitive restructuring
the effort to help a client understand how their thoughts and emotions interact. In doing so, it is hoped that the client begins to identify less with temporary states of thought and understand them as things that can come and go and change rapidly.
What are the three key measures that can be reviewed at certain intervals to determine if and how much progress a client has made
Symptoms of mental illness, well-being of client, and functioning of client
