Q

How to find the vertical exaggeration

A

The vertical scale divided by the horizontal scale. the vertical scale is found from the cross-section and the horizontal scale is found on the map. you have to change them both to a representative fraction before calculating

Q

How to check the steepness of a slope with contour lines

A

If the contour lines are wide apart, that means it’s a gentle slope however, if the contour lines are closely packed, it means that it is a steep slope

Q

What is the formula of finding the gradient?

A

Vertical distance divided by the horizontal distance. you take the Y index of a triangle and you divided by the X index of the triangle then you have to make it equal to one over X and find X
