Acculturation is when you adopt or accept different cultural traits such as language or religion. An example is the U.S accepting Chinese, and Mexican cultures today.

Assimilation is the process of adapting and taking on a different culture. The process of acculturation. An example of assimilation is when the Native Americans were forced to give up their culture and adapt to ours.

Commodification is the process of turning a cultural activity into a product or something you can sell. An example is if you sold a church that said Christianity on it for 10 dollars.

Cultural appropriation is a term to describe when a dominant culture or social group takes a an expression, product, or idea from an oppressed culture and uses it for their benefit. An example of this is sports teams using native american names for their team name.

Cultural complex is the group of traits that defines a culture. A good example for this definition is how Americans use cars to show their social status and how much money they have.

Cultural ecology is the relationship between the environment and culture, and human adaptations to various types of environments. An example of this is the Quechua people of Peru. The culture of the native Quechua is influenced by the harsh, high altitude Andean environment that they live in. For example, communities are small with families sharing land and labor.
