A

Chain migration is when one individual comes to a place and tells his/her friends to come too probably because it’s cheaper or they have jobs there which causes them to bring in their family which causes their family to bring in friends which creates a chain.

A

Counter migration is simply the migration in an opposite direction. Basically immigrants who move from Africa to the U S and then when they move back to Africa that is counter migration.

A

Cyclic movement is when you leave a place to go somewhere else on a journey and come back to that same place. An example is if you leave home to go to work and after work you come back home that is called cyclic movement.

Forced migration is when people are forced to leave their country either from a war or something like human rights abuse. An example is the refugees leaving Syria because of the Syrian civil war and from violence and murder.

A

It is a model that it used to see how much two cities interact, trade, or converse with each other. An example is if London and New york and Canada were interacting it would be a lot more likely to see New York and London interacting a lot more than Kingston, Canada because London and New York have closer populations than Kingston does.

Intercontinental- migration that only occurs within the country. Interregional- Movement from still inside a country but from an entire region to another. Intraregional- Movement withen the same country and the same region. Rural-Urban- temporarily or permenant from a rural area to an urban city.

A place utility is a measure of a person’s satisfaction with a place based on physical attributes, environmental, or economic. An example of this is if you entered a neighborhood you would have a specefic place utility based on how the neighborhood is economically and environmentaly built.

A

Pull factor- positive things that draw in people to places
Push factors- Something that encourages someone to leave that place . A good example is if you came from Mexico and there was a bad war of civil rights violence going on then thats a push factor to push you into the Unites States and a pull factor would be the jobs and the way people treat you at the places you go.

Step migration is the gradual step-taking from going to a farm to a small-town city to an urban city. A good example is if you were living on a farm and you decided to leave that farm and move into town and then you really wanted to visit a big city and then you decide to stay in that big city.
