Unit 2 Topic 2 - Intelligence Flashcards
Compare Multiple Intelligences and Emotional Intelligence Theories with reference to: (2.2.1.1)
(Howard Gardner, 2017)
MI - proposes that people possess many different types of intelligence including linguistic, logical, musical, spatial, bodily, naturalistic, interpersonal, intrapersonal
EQ - the ability to perceive, use, understand and manage emotions in oneself and in others including perceiving emotions, facilitating thought, understanding emotions, managing emotions
Identify three methods used to measure intelligence (2.2.1.2)
Intelligence Quotient (IQ)
Stanford-Binet Scale
Wechsler’s Intelligence Scale
What is the Intelligence Quotient (2.2.1.2)
a standardised score for an individual’s intelligence as measured by specific intelligence test (IQ Test)
What is the Stanford-Binet Scale (2.2.1.2)
assess an individuals intelligence based on age
What is the Wechsler’s Intelligence Scale (2.2.1.2)
provides a general IQ score and scores for four seperate aspects of intelligence
Describe the reliability and validity of intelligence tests (2.2.1.3)
Standardisation Practice Motivation Fairness of test design reliability - must be consistent validity - must test what it intends to
Summarise (Bouchard, 1990) with regard to intelligence
Aim:
- determine if intelligence is inherited
- does nature or nurture have a more significant role
Method:
- used MZA + DZA twins reared apart and reared together
- compared IQ of parents and children
Results:
- twins have a higher correlation of intelligence
- genetics have a large role in determining intelligence
