Balanced Diet
One that contains all the nutrients required for health in appropriate proportions.
Nutrition
Nourishment - nutrients and energy neede for health and growth.
Obesity
When a person is 20% or more heavier than th recommended weight for their height.
BMI

Adipose
Describes tissue consisting of cells that store fat/lipid
Atherosclerosis
The process of deposition of fatty substance in the lining of arteries to form atheroma, which may eventually lead to arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)
Cholesterol
A lipid molecule (not a triglyceride) found in all cell membranes and involves in the synthesis of steroid hormones.
Lipoproteins
A combination of lipid, cholesterol and port mused to transport fats and cholesterol around the body
Selective Breeding
Where humans select the individual organisms that are allowed to breed according to chosen characteristics.
Health
A state of mental, physical and social well being, not just the absence of disease.
Disease
A departure from good health caused by a malfunction of the mind or body.
Parasite
An organism that lives in or on another living thing, causing harm to its host.
Pathogen
An organism that causes disease.
Transmission
The way in which a parasitic microorganism travels from one host to another.
Fertilisers
Minerals needed for plant growth which are added to soi to improve its fertility.
