What is resurrection?
the belief that the body stays in the grave until the end of the world when it is raised.
What is immortality?
the idea that the soul lives on after the body
What is the paranormal?
the study of unexplained things such as ghosts and mediums who say they can contact the dead.
What is abortion?
the removal of a foetus from a womb in order to terminate a pregnancy
What is sanctity of life?
the belief that life is sacred and belongs to God
What is Euthanasia?
an easy and gentle death
What is assisted suicide?
providing a person with the means to commit suicde
What is voluntary euthanasia?
situation where patient is dying in pain and asks a doctor to end their life painlessly
What is involuntary euthanasia?
ending someone’s life painlessly when they cannot consent, but there is good reason for believing that they would agree.
explain why people do not believe in life after death
there is no evidence, no one has returned from the death and science shows when the body dies, the brain dies.
in what circumstances is abortion legal?
if the mother’s life is at risk, the mother’s physical or mental health is at risk, if the child is likely to be born severely handicapped or if their would be a serious effect on the other children in the family.
explain why some people disagree with abortion
life begins at conception so it is murder to abort a baby
why should the media be free to criticise religion?
freedom of expression, religious leaders publicise their beliefs in the media so should be prepared for criticism
why should the media not be free to criticise religion?
could lead to religious hatred, Gods words should not be criticised by humans, could cause riots e.g charlie hebdo attack
what are the social facts of euthanasia?
people are often kept alive on medication, but the medication can not be cut off by law because it counts as euthanasia
