Unit 2 Leason 3 Flashcards
1
Q
Colorimetry
A
The study of energy changes in physical or chemical changes
2
Q
Calorimeter
A
A device Used to measure the heat absorbed or released by a reaction
3
Q
Principle of calorimetry
A
Heat released by reaction (system) = heat absorbed by calorimeter (surrounding)
4
Q
Assumptions in calormetry
A
No heat is lost to outside environment
Heat absorbed by calorimeter material is small enough to be ignored
The water is dilute enough to retain property of water (heat capacity = 4.19)
