What are graphics?
Display of images and drawings on the computer
What is a digital image?
A pic stored on a computer
What is a pixel?
A tiny square of colour also known as a picture element.
How are digital images formed?
When multiple pixel are together they form a digital image.
How does the computer display an image?
The computer tells the monitor to show a particular colour for each pixel using the specific no.
How do computers know what each colour of the pixel should be?
Each pixel has a specific no. and this no. will tell the computer what colour the pixel should be.
How do computers store a picture?
The computer simply records a no. to represent the colour of each square
What are the 2 ways graphics can be represented as?
Bitmapped graphics
Vector graphics
What are bitmapped graphics?
A method for storing images using pixels.
What are bitmapped graphics used for?
Photography
Scanning
What are some file formats that uses bitmapped graphics?

What are vector graphics?
Vector graphics are made out of geometric shapes and coordinates to define the parts of the image
How is information stored in vector graphics
Stored in formulas making it more efficient that bitmaps
