A

Caused by atrioventricular valves closing because atrial pressure is less than ventricular pressure

Q

What are baroreceptors?

A

Baroreceptors

  • Stretch receptors
  • Most sensitive to decrease in blood pressure
  • Increase in blood pressure causes increased stretch, increasing frequency of APs

Q

Platelets

A
  • also known as thrombocytes
  • fragments of megakaryocytes
  • critical for clotting
  • no nuclei

Q

Immunoglobulins (All

A
  • IgM: First class released by plasma cell (diagnosis of infection), fixes complement
  • IgA: Functions as dimer, found in mucus and on body surfaces
  • IgD: B cell antigen receptors
  • IgE: Stem is bound to mast cells and basophils, causes them to release histamine and cytokines (mediates inflammatory response, allergy)
  • IgG: Main type (primary and secondary immune response), can cross placenta (passive immunity to fetus), fixes complement
