Unit 2:Force And Motion Flashcards
What is a reference point?
Is a place it object used for a comparison to determine if something is on motion
How can you tell if something is in motion?
If it’s position changes relative to another object
Speed
An object is the distance the object moves per unit of time
Velocity
Speed is given direction
What is a force?
Is a push or a pull
The two main types of forces are contact and non-contact forces. List the types of contact forces then list the types of non-contact force.
Contact force- applied force, normal force, and friction Non-contact force-electrical force, magnetic force, and gravitational force
What force causes a book to fall off of your desk?
Gravitational force
When you stand on the ground you are demonstrating what force?
Gravitational force
How do forces affect motion?
Force balance-motion will not change Forces unbalance-motion will change
Net force
The overall force on an object when all the individual force acting on it are added together
What does inertia depend on?
Mass
