Equality
A person is respected as an individual, treated by fairly given the same opportunities regardless of differences, creating according to needs and differences. They should not be discriminated due to their differences - gender, race, age or disability
Diversity
Recognising and respecting individual differences for example faith, beliefs, race, customs, sexuality
Empowerment
Care workers enabling and supporting individuals to be in control of their own lives
Independence
Not relying on others having freedom to make own decisions
Inclusion
Individuals have equal opportunities so there involved
Respect
Having respect for service users in their beliefs and rights
Dignity
Care that does not undermine a persons self respect
Rights
Rights are what everyone is entitled too and they are set out by legislation such as the equality act 2010

Choice
Gives individuals controls over their lives and increases self esteem because it promotes independence and empowerment
Consultation
Individuals working in or using health, social or child services should be asked for their opinions and views about about their care and treatment; this should inform the care they receive
Confidentiality
Private information should be shared only with the individuals who are directly involved with an individual care
Protection from harm and abuse
Care settings and practitioners should have safeguarding procedures and safety measures in place and follow health and safety legislation
Equal and fair treatment
Individuals working in or using health, social or child services should be treated within the law and according to their needs
Right to life
An individuals life is protected by human rights law, everybody’s right to life should be valued and respected
