5 Possible levels of consciousness

A
  1. Alert: Patient is fully awake, spontaneous open eyes and respond to voice.
  2. Confusion: New onset or worsening confusion.
  3. Voice: Patient responds to voice stimulus (e.g., will opens eyes, grunt)
  4. Pain: Patient responds to pain stimulus, but do response to pain (e.g., grimaces from trapezius (shoulder) squeeze)
  5. Unresponsive: No response to voice or pain.
