Unit 2 - class 5 Flashcards
Structure of a cytoplasm
cytosol + organelles (without a Nucleus)
Cytosol Structure
Gel-like material that fills the cell and made up of water, proteins, carbohydrates
Cytosol function
Holds organelles in place, stores substances
Nucleus “control center” (purpose)
contains cell genetic information, controlls cell activity by directing protein synthesis
Nucleus Structure
Nuclear Envelope, Nuclear pores,Chromatin, Nucleolus
Nuclear Envelope
Double Membrane
Nucleolus
spot in nucleus where ribisomes are made
Ribosomes function
builds proteins
Ribisomes structure
composed of RNA and proteins
Bound Ribisomes
make proteins that are exported from the cell
Free Ribosomes
in the cytosol, makes proteins that function in the cytoplasm
DNA to mRNA
Transcription
mRNA to protein
Translation
I can draw genetic control in a eukaryotic cell
