Unit 2: Cell Process (based on study guide) Flashcards
Does diffusion require added energy?
Yes, because it moves from a high concentration to a low one requiring energy
Describe the likely movement of the oxygen molecules. Would they move into or out of the cell membrane?
Depends where there is more oxygen. Molecules like oxygen move naturally from areas of higher concentration to areas of low concentration. It will move into the cell through the membrane to support Cellar Respiration
What is Cellular Respiration?
The process by which organisms use oxygen to break down food molecules to get ATP (energy)
What is photosynthesis?
The process in which plants make their food
What is Cell division?
Division of cell into two daughter cells with the same genetic material.
What correctly shows the gases that enter and exit plants during photosynthesis
Enter: Carbon Dioxide
Exit: Oxygen
What is the purpose of Cellar Respiration….
Make more ATP
What is DIFFUSION?
HIGH—–LOW
What is the correct equation for photosynthesis?
CO2+ light+ H20—–O2+Sugar
The waste gas given off by cellular respiration is?
Carbon Dioxide
What is a recant of cellular respiration?
glucose
What is Active tansport?
the movement of molecules or ions across a cell membrane from a region of lower concentration to a region of higher concentration—against the concentration gradient.
What is passive transport?
the fundamental movement of ions and other molecular substances within the cells along the concentration gradient, without any external energy.
