explain what internal and external recruitment is.
Internal recruitment occurs when a business decides to attract someone already employed within the business to fill a vacancy. External recruitment is the parctice of finding suitable applicants from outside the business.
Define the term human resource managers and workforce planning
HR is the effective management of the relationship between the employer and employees. Workforce planning is a process by which a business can examine its current workforce, forecast likely future needs and identify gaps that may need to be filled over time.
Explain job analysis
Job analysis is the study of an employee’s job in order to determine the duties performed, the time involved with each of those duties, the responsibilities involved and the equipment required.
define job design and provide three examples.
job design details the number, kind and variety of tasks that individual employees perform in their jobs.
1. Job rotation - employees switch jobs
2. Job enlargement - given more to do within same job
3. Job enrichment - given more control/independence
Define employee selection
Involves choosing the candidate who best matches the business requirements
list 4 different employee selection methods and provide advantages and disadvantages of them.
Interviews: some advantadges are that you meet the candidate first hand and that it allows the candidate to ask questions. Disadvantadges may include that it doesn’t assess actual skills or abilities or some people may be dishonest.
Work tests:advantadges: Can assess actual skills and can see them in action. Disadvantadges: Can make applicants nervous and not perform well.
Online selection: Advantadges: can occur at
any time and it’s versatile and Disadvantadges: doesn’t tell you how they could perform the tasks.
Psycholigical testing: Advantadges: Can give an insight into the personality of applicant and disadvantadges: relies on honesty.
describe the occupational health and safety act and regulations
the OH&S act provides a broad framework for improving health and safety in the workplace. the OH&S regulations sets out more specific requirements that build on the OH&S act.
Identify five methods of employee induction.
E-learning: refers to info delivered electronically and may include instructional videos to prepare employees.
On The Job Training
Mentoring: Involves having a senior employee assisting a new employee
Induction Pack: Provides new employees with physical or electronic file that contains info for the job.
Meetings with key staff members: New employees and other staff members coming together during the induction process.

Generous remuneration: Employers can provide wages and benefits that exceed minimum requirements
Flexible Workplaces: Employers may choose not to require employees to work sctrict numbers of hours per day or excessive hours per week
