- E.g. putting your phone on silent + not talking during a movie

Describes people who display neurological + cognitive functioning that’s typical/expected

Idea that every human has a unique nervous system with a different combo of needs

- Very intense/overwhelming emotions
- Occur frequently
- Persist for extended periods
