Transcendence
The teaching that God, by nature, is beyond this world and beyond the comprehension of human beings
Immanence
God is immanent because he has a relationship with the world. He makes himself present in the world.
Atheist
A person who denies the existence of God
Agnostic
A person who says he/she does not know whether there is God or not
Salvation history
God’s action in human history to show them his love and to show them the best ways to return to him
Covenant
A solemn agreement or contract of love between God and his people
YHWH
A name for God that God himself revealed to Moses and the Chosen People on Mount Sinai.
Magisterium
It is the official teaching authority of the Church integrated by the pope and bishops who are successors of Christ and his Apostles
Sacred Scripture
The Inspired Word of God, the written record of God’s revelation
Canon of the Bible
The official list of inspired books in the Bible. 46 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament
Dogma
A central truth that we are to believe
Virtue
Inclination and habitual preference for the good
Religion
Having a personal relationship with God
Body of Christ
All of us, the Church, are members of the body of Christ
