What is the gospel?
The gospel is the heart of the scripture
What does the Gospel mean?
The Gospel means the good news and is not a historical book
What are the 4 processes of development?
Appearing in person, Proclaiming the Good news, Writing it down, and Authorizing the list
What is the original 1st gospel?
Mark is the original 1st gospel but Matthew is the first biblically
What do the Gospels bring?
The Gospels bring the Good News of the incarnation of Jesus Christ
Did Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John write the gospels from different Christian communities ?
Yes
Was Mark’s Gospel written 50, 70, 30, or 40 years after Jesus died?
Mark’s Gospel was written 30 years after Jesus died
Are there 3 or 4 Synoptic Gospels?
There are 3 Synoptic Gospels because John has a lack of similarities

Mark was a Gentile whose representative animal was a Lion. He came 65-70 years AD
Who was Matthew? What was his representative animal? How many AD?
Matthew was a Jewish Christian whose representative animal was an angel and he came 80-90 AD
Who was Luke? What was his representative animal? How many AD? How many books did he write?
Luke was a Gentile convert whose representative animal was a cow. He came after 70-80 AD. He also wrote Acts of Apostles
Who was John? What was his representative animal? How many AD?
John was a fisherman who loved Jesus and whose representative animal was an an eagle. He came after 80-90 AD.
What is the main focus of the Gospels?
The main focus of the Gospels were who Jesus was, what He did, and what He said.
What is the difference between Exegesis and Eisegesis?
Exegesis is the explanation of a text based on a careful, objective analysis. Eisegesis is the explanation of a text based on a subjective, non-analytical reading.
What are the 4 processes of Exegesis?
Observation, Interpretation, Correlation and Application
What are the 3 processes of Eisegesis?
Imagination, Exploration, and Application
What is the Paschal Mystery?
A study in fulfillment according to a divine plan. It refers to the Passion, Death, Accension, and Resurrection of Jesus.
What happens in Matthew 26:1-27:56?
The chief priests plan to capture Jesus and arrest him after the festival. After the anointing at Bethany, Jesus and his disciples held the Passover. Jesus then heads over to pray at Gethsmane.
What happens in Luke 22:1-23:49?
In Luke 22:1-23:49, Jesus and his disciples had the Passover which led them to wonder who would betray Jesus. Jesus then predicts Peter’s denial and Judas approaches him by kissing him on the cheek.
What happens in John 13:1-19:37?
In John 13:1-19:37, Jesus poured water into a basin and washed the disciples feet. Jesus then foretells his betrayal and informs them that the disciple he gives the bread to is the one who will betray him. Jesus makes a new commandment that they should all love one another and tells Peter that he will deny him 3 times before the crow crocks.
How many letters are contained in the Catholic bible and to whom? Why were they written?
There are 21 letters contained in the Catholic Bible mostly attributed to St . Paul and his followers. They were written to encourage faith and teach the meaning of Jesus.
What were the major themes of each Gospel?
Mark: The deeds and miracles of Jesus
Matthew: Christ is the king and the promised Messiah of Israel
Luke: Salvation is for Everyone
John: Word becomes Flesh
Why is John not included in the synoptic gospels?
John is not included because he used an eyewitness testimony to discuss the life and ministry of Jesus
