Aboriginal Law
A body of Canadian law that deals with issues related to Indigineous people of Canada and their relationship with the crown.
Administrative law
A body of rules governing the application of statutes regulated by administrative statutes or boards.
Regulations
procedural rules made under a statute.
Administrative Tribunals
Agencies created by legislation to regulate activities or do specific things.
Bill
A proposed law presented to a legislative body.
Motion
The decision to read a bill for the first time
The law
The body of rules of conduct that are obligatory in the sense that sanctions are normally imposed if a rule is violated.
Common law
The law as founded in the recorded judgements of the courts
Stare decisis
The principle requiring the judge to apply the judgement of a previous case when a later case presents similar facts.
Canon law
The law developed by the church courts to deal with matters that fell within their jurisdiction such as religion, marriage, or estates.
