Tenure of Office Act
This was a US law that was created in order to stop the President from getting rid of the office holders without getting permission from the US Senate first. This law was created on March 2nd, 1867.
Radical Republicans
These were people who’s goals were to completely end slavery in the United States. They also wanted rights for black people, and were also known for their thoughts on after the Civil War, and the Reconstruction era.
Ku Klux Klan
This organization was the first terrorist group. They were also white supremacists, and their goal was to be violent toward black people. They wanted to get rid of the Republican party, and earn rights from blacks in the South after the Civil War in 1865.
1876 Election
During the 1876 US election, Rutherford B.Hayes ran against Samuel Tilden. Neither of them won, because the votes between three states weren’t completed. Both the Democrats and Republicans won in Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina.
Plessy v Ferguson
This was a court case which stated that black and whites could be equal with one another, but they needed to be separate.
Andrew Carnegie
He was one of the richest Americans in history. He was also a philanthropist in the US, Great Britain, and in the British Empire. Andrew Carnegie was also the founder of the Carnegie steel company. He was the reason why steel expanded and became so popular in the late 1800s.
Union pacific-central pacific
Congress created this act in 1862. The purpose of it was to create a train system that would connect the rails from Nebraska, Central Pacific, and then Sacramento to the east.
