Why does the Spanish Empire weaken?
A
Inflation and Taxes-> Spain gained their wealth from the Americas, because of population growth and silver bullion the value dropped. Taxes heavily impacted the lower class people.
Bankruptcy and Making enemies rich-> Old Spanish clothes was bought at a high prices by Spaniards. They took loans from Germany and France, and couldn’t pay their debt, and were declared bankrupt three times.
The Dutch Revolt-> Philip wanted to crush Protestantism in Netherlands, and fought for 11 years until they were finally defeated.
