what are the 3 types of risks in the outdoors
environmental, risks associated with people, risks associated with equipment
what are environmental risks?
risks caused by the environment itself. e.g weather
what are risks associated with people?
risks that come from individuals in the environment e.g knowledge, skill level
what are risks associated with equipment?
risks that come from the equipment used e.g ropes breaking
what are the 5 personal responses to outdoor environment?
fear, curiosity, awe appreciation, contemplation
appreciation
recognition of value and the significance of an outdoor environment
awe
A feeling of wonder or admiration for an outdoor environment
contemplation
a feeling that causes long thoughtful observation or deep reflection about an environment
fear
unpleasant feeling resulting from a belief about an outdoor environment
curiosity
can be positive or negative, a strong desire to know or learn something about an outdoor environment
inspiration
a feeling that leads to a person wanting to do or create something
exhilaration
excitement or happiness resulting from an outdoor experience
connection
a feeling that we are a part of a place which can come with spiritual feelings
revulsion
a sense of disgust and loathing. an environment could elicit this because of something negative a person has seen in an environment such as animals hunting each other

the way in which two or more things affect each other because they are related in some way

making use and benefit from resources, often in an unsustainable way and accompanied by environmental degradation

taking time out of everyday life to connect with nature e.g sleeping under the stars
what is a study site?
a location where investigation, analysis and other activities occur e.g to observe, test or explore often by scientists, students etc.
ecological perspective
concerning biological sciences leading to knowledge and understanding of the environment, e.g testing water levels, salinity levels in soil
social perspective
the human interaction with the environment. we are able to gather knowledge through a social perspective through activities like life saving, bush walking
