1
Q
1st Microscope
A
Zacharias Jansen in 1590:
- Had only one lens
- Some of his pictures were blurry and NONE of his Microscopes survived
2
Q
2nd Microscope

Galileo in 1609:
- Had the same two lenses + were like two little telescopes

3rd Microscope
A
Robert Hooke in 1665:

5th Microscope
A
Jospeh Jackson Lister in 1826:
- He made an achromatic lens which made up for a distortion called “chromatic aberration”

- His new lens made the coloured edge disappear

Q
6th Microscope
A
Ernst Abbe in the 1860s:
- Introduced the use of a condenser to give STRONG + EVEN lighting
- Made great improvements to the design of Microscopes

Q
7th Microscope
A
Ernst Ruska in 1931:
- Invented the FIRST ELECTRON microscope
- This had a much higher resolution than the light Microscopes
