Name a method to using a DRY measuring cup
dip and sweep (Spoon the flour into the dry measure measuring cup, filling it to overflowing. Level the flour off by dragging a straight-edged utensil (like a butter knife) across the tops of the measuring cup.
How do you measure brown sugar ?
To measure brown sugar always use dry measuring cups. You need to always pack the brown sugar into the measuring cup. You will know if you have packed the sugar properly if the sugar holds its shape when dumped from the measuring cup

What is one of the four differences between dry and liquid measuring cups?
■ Liquid measuring cups have a pour spout and a handle which helps when adding the liquid ingredients to your other ingredients.
■ The measurement markings are down from the rim, which helps to prevent spilling.
■ Put the cup on a flat surface, bend down (method of measuring) and look at the outside of the cup to get an accurate measurement at eye level. Don’t hold the cup up to your eye.
■ Liquid measuring cups are usually transparent glass or translucent plastic liquid measuring cups.
what do you need to remember when measuring with a liquid measuring cup?
put the cup on a level surface and bend down to read.
What do you do when measuring sticky ingredients ? (honey, Peanutbutter, ect)
spray the measuring cups with vegetable oil.
What are examples of solid fats?
cold butter, margarine, lard and shortening.
What are the methods to measuring solid fats ?
1) may be cut from the block, if the package provides the measurements for doing so
2) Firm fats may also be measured by water displacement.
What is the recipe calling for when they ask for a pinch?
what fits between your thumb and forefinger
Why don’t you measure over the bowl?
because if you spill you won’t get a proper measurement, and it will mess up the recipe.
