what are Windows 10 desktop
electronic space to complete tasks and do your work on the computer
what is the start button
takes you to the start screen or menu ( lower left corner)
what are icons
small images that represent files, folders, apps
what are notifications area
located on the lower right side of the screen; displays date and time; notifies users of any threats to the system and provides access to system controls
what are show desktop button
immediately minimizes all apps and displays the desktop; located in the FAR bottom right corner of the desktop - it is a toggle button- you click it once and will show the desktop click it again and it shows back up
what is a window
a frame displaying the app’s tools
what is a title bar
a strip located at the top of the window displaying the program (app) name and file name when applicable - title bar is what we use to move the window
what does minimize do
reduces the app window to the taskbar
what does maximize do
enlarges the app window to fill the screen
what does restore do
reduces the app window to the last non-maximized size
what does close do
closes the app window
what is screen tip
identifies the program or screen item, helps users to learn about available tools - a good part of the Windows interface
what is dialog box controls
allow users to communicate with the computer
what is a text box
a box in which users type text or numbers
what is a spin box
a box with up and down arrows; also known as “ elevator buttons”
