What is an isoelectric point?

A

The pH of a protein at which it has no net charge. Protein will precipitate out of solution.

A

A technique used to detect specific proteins. It can use antigens to detect antibodies.

Describe the use of antibodies to detect antigens.

A

The antibody specific to target antigen is bound to a plate.
Sample is added onto plate.
If antigen is present it will bind to antibody.
Label antibody specific to antigen is added which can produce a colour change.
