Serous Membrane
Thin double layered sacs called the parietal layer and visceral layer
Visceral Layer
The inner layer that contacts the organ
Parietal layer
Outer layer that is in contact with the body
Serous Fluid
Lubricates the organs and allows them to glide without friction in between the serous membrane
Thoracic Cavity
Subdivided into the medial mediastinum and the right and left pleural cavities
Mediastinum
Contains the esophagus, trachea, bronchi, and heart which is enclosed by the pericardial cavity
Abdominopelvic Cavity
Contains the digestive organs and the pelvic cavity
Pelvic Cavity
Contains urinary bladder, reproductive organs, and, rectum

Divides into Anterior and Posterior
