What does the term spatial mean?
“Geographical” – pertaining to space on Earth’s surface
What are closed systems and open systems?
Open systems are systems that interact with each other. Closed systems have no exchange of energy or matter.
Define the term “systems.”
Systems are any related events/objects and their interactions (which are an exchange of energy, mass, or momentum)
What are the 8 major subfields of physical geography?
geomorphology, climatology, plant geography, zoogeography, soil geography, marine geography, biogeography, and water resources
How do models help us understand our complex physical world?
Models give us simplified representations of the world that facilitate the development of generalizations.
What are three different types of models?
Physical models, numerical models, and conceptual models.
Define positive and negative feedback loops.
Positive feedback loops accentuates/accelerates the change. Negative slows down/dampens the change and usually makes it more STABLE.
What are the steps for a hypothesis?
Identify. Gather. Form. Test. Revise/Peer Review.
