Mental answer 1
Poor concentration has a negative impact on my hockey performance. When taking attacking penalty corner and we have discussed as a team what we are doing but the coach changes it last minute and im not concentrating on what my coach is saying. I then panic and get distracted from what in doing. I cant execute my role in the penalty corner. Meaning we miss the shot as im not where im supposed to be.
Mental answer 2
Effective decision making has a positive impact on my hockey performance. When we have possession of the ball and we are going towards the semi circle, I decide to lead the goalie to the penalty spot and then pass to a teammate at the open post. I then pass to that player. Meaning they can guide the ball into the goal behind the goalkeeper. Therefore, meaning we are winning by one point.
Emotional answer 1
Being unable to control my fear has a negative impact on my hockey performance. When we have gone into running penalties and the rest of my team missed, I am then the one that has to score so my team can win, I am scared that I will miss the goal entirely and let my team down. This means I hesitate at the start and don’t give myself the full 8 seconds. I then put myself under more pressure and my muscles tense up. Meaning I don’t perform the shot as smoothly and miss the goal.
Emotional answer 2
Being unable to control my anger has a negative impact on my hockey performance. In a Game if the opposing team has possession of the ball and I go in for the tackle, but the referee pulls me up for a stick tackle, but I don’t agree I will then challenge the referee. This means I get warned for my behaviour on the pitch. Meaning my coach takes me off so it doesnt happen again. Therefore meaning we have to put a less skilled player on the pitch and the opposing team have a better chance at beating us.
Social answer 1
Effective non-verbal communication has a positive impact on my hockey performance. When my team are taking a sideline ball I can point to where I want to receive it from them so that the defender marking me doesn’t see where I will receive the ball. Therefore, my teammate knows where to pass without it being obvious because the defender can’t see me pointing. Therefore, I can accurately and correctly receive the ball without it being intercepted. Therefore, my team can continue the attack and create a goal scoring opportunity.
Social answer 2
Effective verbal communication has a positive impact on my hockey performance. When we are defending a hit out and there is a player in the opposing team unmarked I can tell my teammate who isn’t marking anyone to mark them. This means my team are covering all possible passing options. Meaning the person taking the ball has to try force it through our defending line. Therefore, we can regain possession.
Physical answer 1
A high level of CRE has a positive impact on my hockey performance. When a striker in the opposing team has the ball and I’m defending one of the other strikers a high level of CRE in the later stages of the game allows me to mark that player effectively because I don’t get fatigued as quickly. The striker then has nobody to pass to. Therefore, they have to do a 1v1 with the goalie. Reducing their chances of scoring a goal.
Physical answer 2
The ability to perform strong and accurate tackle has a positive impact on my hockey performance. When I am in defence and the opposition has the ball, I can strongly and accurately tackle making it harder to dodge as my timing is correct and they cannot break through. I then gain possession of the ball. Therefore, I can pass to a teammate in space. And my team can then try creating a goal scoring opportunity.
