Neanderthals
- were known as the early people descended from people in the babel
they had thick skin, short bodies, and were very muscular. they were the closes relatives to modern humans .
they lived around the time of the tower of babel. around 3300 BC. and died off in 2091 bc
Neolithic Revolution
it was the period after 9000 BCE.
this was when people left their old ways of life and started changing society to more of what we know it. learning a lot about animals and plants, farming, and going into trade.
The Epic of Gilgamesh
it was the oldest known poem written in general literature. it was originally written on 12 clay tablets in the third dynasty Ur. They were lost until 1853 when they were found in Ninivah.
The Old Kingdom
it was where two unorganized societies were united to make Egypt whole. it started in 2686 and ended in 2150 BCE. this was also the age when the land was plentiful
King Hammurabi
He was the person who guided Babylon’s rise to power. He was known for his many laws, one being the code of Hammurabi. it was the law of justice. and eye for an eye and so on. came to throne around 1750.
Mummification
It was the process of keeping the bodies in a life-like form. this was B/C the Egyptians believed that after you die you get to enjoy your afterlife doing hunting and activities that the person liked. and to do that you had to dry out the body and take out main organs and the brain except for the heart. b/c you needed to have your heart to pass through to the afterlife.
Akhenaton
A Pharoah who attempted to have a religious revolution. he worshiped Aton and made everyone who was in Egypt worship him too.
Osiris
The god of the dead, the underworld, and the afterlife. he was also the god of fertility. and the Egyptians needed him to have prosperity.
Hyksos
warlike people who were from Syria a Palestine invaded Egypt. The Hyksos had improved weapons like arrows and chariots.
the Egyptians didn’t have the new weapons and that brought to their attention that they needed to make better weapons and be better so that if another attack happened they could defend themselves
Ramses II
He was A pharaoh that built the most cities and expanded Egypt in all of history. he ruled for 60 years and was good in battle and building. he was also the pharaoh in the Exodus.
King Menes
The first pharaoh to unite the old kingdom ( the upper and lower kingdom) and wear the double crown. he was seen as a god of Egypt at the time and he ruled over the affairs. secular and religious matters.
Ma’at
the goddess of truth and justice. she communicated with the people throught the pharaohs. she was the order for the people and they listened to her.
Ka
it was an Egyptian religion where the Ka was a part of the soul and gave the people life. Ka would also take them to the afterlife and give them a personality
The Exodus
the saving the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. this was where the parting of the red sea happened and how it swallowed up the Egyptian army. saving the Israelites.
