Four Categories of the Old Testament:
Law - also known as the Pentateuch or the Torah, first five books of the Bible, tells the story of the Creation and the Covenant between God and his Chosen People, tells how God cared for his people on their journey to the Promised Land.
Historical - tells how God cared for his people during their history, purpose is to remind the Hebrew people that God has been with them during all the events of their lives.
Wisdom - tells people how to live wisely, shows how to act as God’s people, and how to pray, contains psalms, poems, prayers, sermons, proverbs, riddles, and parables.
- Prophetic - tells about the prophets and their messages to God’s people, called the people to be faithful to God and to their covenant with him.
