What is weather?
Weather is the day to day temperature conditions, or other things like wind/rain, in an particular area.
Give an example a weather condition on a day.
You basically have infinitive options: It could be cold and windy; Warm and sunny; Cold and snowing; Warm and rainy; etc., etc..
What is climate?
Climate is what the weather is like in an area over a long period of time.
Give an example of a climate in an area.
Like weather, you basically have infinitive options: It could be mild and wet; Wet and cold; Hot and dry; Hot and wet; etc., etc..
How do we describe climate?
We describe climate by looking at temperature and rainfall.
For TEMPERATURE, we say how hot/ cold it is. We use words like “cold”, “mild” and “hot”.
For RAINFALL, we say how much it rains. We use words like “wet” and “dry”.
What are wet areas?
Wet areas are specific areas that get lots of rain during the year.
How much rain, on average, does wet areas get?
1000 mm.
What are dry areas?
Dry areas are specific areas that do not get much rain during the year.
How much rain, on average, does dry areas get?
Less than 250 mm.
