Q

Why do Earthquakes occur? (Use crust, tectonic plates, mantle, core, slabs, subduction, collide)

A

The Earth is made of a crust, mantle, and core. The crust is made of tectonic plates that “float” on the mantle. The plates are unbending slabs. Earthquakes happen during subduction, or when one plate goes under the other. It also happens when two plates collide and slip.

34
Q

What is the greenhouse effect? (Use sun’s rays, layer of gasses, trapped beneath, average temperature, suitable for life)

A

The greenhouse effect is when the sun’s rays pass freely through a layer of gasses. Some of the heat gets trapped beneath, and it keeps the planet at an average temperature that is suitable for life.
