Liberty is freedom up to a point where it infringes on others rights.
What is one trait of Americans that make them unique?
Americans are particularly optimistic about their futures.
What is the best way to describe a republic?
A republic is best described as a country that votes for political offices and political officials to make choices on their behalf.
Which group of Americans have the strongest feelings revolving around what it means to be American?
Older generation particularly republics have the strongest interpretation of what it means to be American.
Why was the constitution unique at the time of it’s initial writing?
Prior to the constitutions their had been no written constitutions in the world. Mostly word of mouth constitutions created by the kings and adjusted on a whim.
Why is the separation of power important?
The separation of power is a safety net against tyranny ensuring no one party ends up with too much control.
What was James Madison’s Opinion on Large republics?
James Madison felt a larger republic would be better for America Allowing a wider range of people and potential leaders .
What is the Division of the National government called ? (Split between the branches of government)
Separation of powers.
Which of the government branches did the founding fathers assume to be the weakest?
The judicial Branch.
What is the division of power referred to on a state / national government basis?
Federalism.
What is James Madison’s definition of Factions?
When people were united by something that would cause a split.
What did James Madison think created factions.
He thought Factions were started by unequal distribution of power and mob mentality.
