Birth rate
Is the number of births in a country for every thousand people in the population
Death rate

Is the number of people who permanently move to a country for every thousand people in the population
Emigration rate
The number of people who permanently leave a country for every thousand people in the population
Net migration rate
The difference between the immigration rate and the emigration rate
Population growth
Is the rate of which a country’s population is changing when both migration and natural increase are included
Dependency measure
Used to compare the population in the ‘dependent ages’ (those who need to be housed,fed,educated,etc) to those in the ‘working ages’
Dependency load
Is the percentage is a country’s population that is 14 under and 65 and older that must be supported by the dependent working population
Age dependency ratio
Is the ratio if people in the dependent ages to those in working ages
Infant mortality rate
The number of infant deaths
Total fertility rate
The average number of children that each women will have in her fertile years assuming that the birth rate does not change over this period
Replacement rate
The total fertility rate would produce a natural increase rate of zero
