1) conservatives and some liberals: go against Laurier because reciprocity meant cheaper American goods that could put Canadian manufacturers/railways out of business
2) East: this is where the manufacturers were, who profited off the west buying from them

1) they made the public think reciprocity would allow America to take over Canada, made everyone hate Americans even more
