Define Federalism
A
Federalism is the idea that power is shared between the federal and state government.

A
The state and central gov. share powers, but also have exclusive powers

A
A reserved power. The police power allows the state government to apply force to get certain policies done.

Concurrent powers. Ex: taxation, law enforcement, corporate law, banking law, establishing courts

- Block grants: federal gov. hand states money with minimum string attatched
- Categorical grant: federal $$ given to states with many strings attached
