What is proper posture?
Leaning slightly forward, arms hanging loosely from shoulders, elbows slightly higher than keys, bench must face the keyboard, knees under keyboard, feet flat on the floor.
What are the finger numbers?
The left hang consists of the pinky being number 5, ring finger being 4, middle finger 3, index 2, and thumb 1. The right hand consists of the same order as well.
What are the note names for treble and bass?
Treble F,A,C, E, space notes E, G, B, D, F line notes, bass notes: A, C, E, G, space notes, line notes: G, B, D, F, A
What is a quarter note worth?
Worth one beat of sound
What is a half note worth?
Worth two beats of sound
What is a bar line?
A line that separates music into measures of equal duration
What is a measure?
Music divided by bar lines into segments of equal duration
What does a double bar line do?
Marks the end in a piece of music
What is the treble clef?
Clef for right hand notes on the piano/clef for higher pitches
What is a whole note?
A rhythm worth four beats of sound
What is the bass cleff?
It locates the clef for the left hand notes/clef for lower pitches
What is the grand staff?
Treble and bass clef that are connected by a brace/bracket. Instructs the musician to play both clefs at the same time.
What is the bracket/brace?
A symbol that connects a treble and bass clef to form the grand staff.
