Direct Light
It is considered to be a small source of light. Also, known as hard, harsh light. The light is coming from one direction. The sun is considered as Direct Light.
Diffused Light
It is considered to be a large source of light. Also, known as soft light. It spreads the direct light rays. It helps to create light shadows. A cloudy day is considered as Diffused Light. Sometimes light coming from a window can be considered diffused light known as Directionally diffused light.
Frontal Light
It is behind the camera towards the subject. There are less shadows and the subject is well lit.
Side Light
The light is at the side of the subject. It creates deep shadows, great for texture and architectural images.
Backlight
It is behind the subject. The shadows are towards the camera. It can create a silhouette of the subject.
