Sees consumption as a largely rational
process based on need recognition
how does consumer culture theory see consumption?
as a much less rational process. More socio-cultural + experiential activity
what is information processing?
the process by which a stimulus is received, interpreted, stored in memory and later retrieved.
what are the types of consumer decisions?
-extended problem solving (e.g buying a car)
-variety seeking behaviour (e.g buying cookies)
-limited problem solving (e.g carpet buying)
-habitual problem solving (e.g buying salt)

- Need recognition / problem awareness: functional
