Culture
Physical/material things that reflect their different cultural orientation (tools, tech, clothing, transportation)
Material culture
Non-physical things that depict society’s way of life. (values, religion, symbols, language)

modified culture within a larger culture practiced by a society. Part of a larger culture but share a specific identity within a smaller group.
subculture
Type of subculture that reject some of larger culture’s norms and values
counterculture
society comes to accept as normal.

norms which society come to accept as the proper way to deal with everyday living and social interactions.

In Latin meaning “custom”. Standards set by society for behavior and appearance. Those who don’t follow are “social deviants”

point of view which people use their home culture as their standard for judging the worth of other cultures
Ethnocentrism
Fascination with other’s culture and contempt for one’s own.
Xenocentrism
Assessing a culture by its standards rather than viewing it through the lens of one’s own culture.
